Fierce. One of these days my niece is going to #bikeCHI with me.
Dearborn Street bike lane opens
Who would have thought we would have a 2 way protected bike lane in the middle of downtown Chicago? Both slightly bizarre and surprisingly quaint, I’m relieved to have a safer commute home in the evening. I daresay it’s even relaxing, especially with the holiday lights this time of year.
I went to the kick-off press conference on Dec. 14th featuring several of the #bikeCHI folks, Gabe Klein, Mayor Rahm, and a crowd of journalists. Someone joked the media posse was bigger than the bike posse.
Afterward there was an impromptu ride up and down the lane. I’m hooked. How could anyone resist these nighttime views of the Calder in front of the Loop Post Office?
Maiden sub-35 degrees commute. “Rock Lobster” gloves.

The Great John White
A must-read must-see from Scott Strazzante. The Great John White.
nudge nudge
The Universe is a funny thing. Over the last 6 months I have lost teaching income, my website, and I suffered a leg injury which took me out of capoeira and samba (2 activities I loved and was almost on the verge of being “good” at).
Over the last 6 months I have also had amazing people come into my life, with reduced income I have been forced to liberate myself from certain aspects of the (A)rt market, in seeking income I have fallen in love with my camera again, since the injury is taking forever to heal I have acquired a bike named “Cocoa,” and have become brave enough to bike to work.
Who would have thought? A new version of my website should be up over the weekend although I’m taking my sweet time with figuring out the rest.
